Pathways to Geosciences Summer Camp 2026

Not sure about college or which direction to take? That's okay, you're not alone. If you enjoy the outdoors, working with computers, hands-on lab work, math, chemistry, biology, world travel, or you're simply curious about the Earth, planets, and environment, the Geosciences might be the perfect fit for you. Geoscientists seek a greater understanding of Earth, protect the planet, predict and assess geological disasters, and discover water, minerals, and energy resources. As a geoscientist, you can make a real impact on the world around you.

The PATHWAYS to Geosciences Summer Camp at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) is your chance to explore these possibilities. Over two weeks, you'll be introduced to the geosciences, connect with UTEP students and faculty, and gain valuable preparation for your college experience, all while getting paid to learn.

Eligibility Requirements

To participate, applicants must:

Be a current high school student (grades 9th–12th)

Be available to attend the full two-week program: July 6–17, 2026, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM and on field trip days 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Reside in the US legally

Priority consideration will be given to students in grades 9th–11th.

Program Requirements

This camp includes outdoor fieldwork and hands-on activities. Participants should be prepared to:

Walk up to one mile on uneven terrain
Spend extended periods outdoors in summer heat
Participate in both indoor and outdoor learning activities
Respect and engage with your team and camp leaders
